SIZZLING SUMMER SERIES

SIZZLING SUMMER SERIES
Riders competing were in Masters C Luke Rowney, Tony Nolan, John Cook, Andrea Gormley and in Elite B Brady Cumming.

Brady has again proved he is in form this year, taking out 2nd place in the Sizzling Summer Series in Brisbane at the weekend. Brady and Brisbane cyclist Matt Hamilton tied for first place on 20 points each but Hamilton took the victory on a count back, he had beaten Brady in a previous race.

The Sizzling Summer Series was a 4 race series over an 8 week period and points were allocated to the top 6 place getters for each race as well as sprint points. Brady was extremely consistent, taking two 2nd places, one top ten and 4th on Sunday. Brady was happy with his final race despite crashing towards the end of the race. He managed to pick up his bike, repair his bike and carry on racing to finish 4th in a very close bunch sprint finish. He was not badly injured during his fall but did lose skin and damaged his bike. Brady said he is enjoying the new dynamic of racing with a quality team which he has in the newly formed Ord Minnett team which he joined earlier in the year.

Nolesy had a mixed bag during the series but is certainly remaining consistent and is certainly one of the stronger riders in his category. Luke has been equally consistent finishing at the pointy end over the duration of the series. Cookie has been mixing it in there as well, working the group and with a podium finish not too far away. Andrea also took part in the Sizzling Summer Series in the veteran’s category, our sole female competitor showed some good form with a 4th place in the Elite women’s race on Sunday, this was Andrea’s first race in the ELITE women’s.. Congratulations to everyone who competed.
