Andrea Takes Bronze At State Titles

On Saturday 17th of June the Queensland Individual Time Trial Championships were held at Kingsthorpe. Queensland's top Time Trialist's converged on the sleepy community equipt with their sleek racing machines. Team Dalby were represented by Andrea Gormley in the 40 - 45 Ladies Masters and Sam Beck in the Elite Men. Conditions were less than ideal with a strong cross wind that the riders had to contend with. Andrea was first off for her category with chasers going at 1 mintue intervals, the second off was Helen Griffiths the 2006 Australian Bronze Medallist. The course was a 20km out and back which consisted of rolling hills and rough road surfaces which made the going tough. Fastest time for the category was Helen Griffiths of the Gold Coast in a time of 31 minutes 05 seconds, second was Janine Parkin from Gold Stars Club in a time of 34 minutes 20 seconds and Andrea in third with a time of 34 minutes and 45 seconds. An awesome effort for Andrea!!

TEAM DALBY CRUISES TO VICTORY

On Saturday 10th June the Toowoomba Cycling Club ran a Teams Time Trial race.
The rules were a team was to be made of 4 riders with at least one female and a cumulative team age of 160 years. Team Dalby racing under the Club Bikeline jersey entered the team of - Damian 54 years, Andrea 40 years, Luke 37 years and Brady 32 years, Total 163 years. Chippo also raced on the day with another Bikeline Team.

The race was a short 20km out and back course (which happens to be the same course that will be used for the Queensland State Time Trial Championships)and teams were sent at one mintue invervals. Team Dalby were the 5th team to leave the start finish line with 4 teams in front and 5 mins behind the first team. We hammered the first 10km catching our first scalp at about 7km and at the turn around we could see how we were fairing with 3 teams in front not far away and teams behind us losing ground.

We caught the next two teams at around the 16km mark and Andrea started to tire but it didn't matter we were on track for victory. On the last hill of the day we caught the final team with 800m to go, crossing the line first in a time of 35min and 20sec.
3 mins ahead of our nearest rivals. BikeLine clean sweeped the day with 1st, 2nd and 3rd with Chippo's team coming 2nd. A great time was had by all and we blew our prize money back in Dalby at the Duck Inn with celebration cappachino's.
